6th December 2010
Web4Africa Ltd (www.web4africa.net) today announces its 100% client acquisition of Nairahost, a company that provides domain name services and web hosting to Nigeria.
Established in 2004, Nairahost started with a vision to dominate the Nigerian web hosting industry through offering intelligent business solutions in an efficient manner. Nairahost rose rapidly to dominate the Nigerian web hosting industry. Nairahost before acquisition, was an accredited .ng domain registrar and also managed a portfolio of a few thousand domains.
The acquisition by Web4Africa not only enlarges Web4Africa’s market share, but also offers lower pricing and a larger choice of domain extensions to Nairahost customers as well as a world-class technical support for their web hosting services.
Web4Africa would manage Nairahost as an independent entity before fully merging the two operations in early 2011.
Oluniyi D. Ajao, Managing Director of Web4Africa Ltd., said, “this acquisition offers an improved service delivery to Nairahost customers. It would offer us a stronger foothold into the vibrant and dynamic market in Nigeria. The acquisition is noteworthy because no merger of operations on this scale has happened before, in the African web hosting industry.”
The acquisition boosts Web4Africa’s current client base of over 8,400 to about 11,500 after an expected overlap of clients has been considered. It also pushes Web4Africa’s domain portfolio to well over 8,000 and number of domains hosted to well over 4,000.
About Web4Africa Ltd.
Established in 2002, Web4Africa has grown to be a market leader in Africa, offering domain name services, web design and web hosting to clients worldwide.
Web Trends Nigeria is a web trends tracking and analysis website with a focus on happenings around the world wide web as they relate to Nigeria.
They recently commissioned Web4Africa to set-up a new interface for their website. The new interface in addition to looking much better than the previous versions offered some new functionalities including:
Web Trends Nigeria is a subsidiary of Unleashed Business Concepts (UBC) Group, a technology holding company based in Lagos Nigeria. Visit Web Trends Nigeria at www.webtrendsng.com
The Nigerian blogosphere is easily one of the most vibrant on the African continent. Though figures are hard to come by, a conservative estimate would put the number of Nigerian blogs at about 2,000. Following the thousands of blogs related to Nigerian would be a herculean task. Thus, there is a need to aggregate these voices and have an overview of the important blog headlines.
Though a few Nigerian blog aggregators have existed in the past, none of them have survived till date. This new aggregator would fill the gap and more offer even more interesting features:
Existing blogs related to Nigeria can be submitted for listing via the “Join Us” page on the aggregator.
The aggregator would be updated with new features where necessary, as time goes by.
Web4Africa is a leading web design & web hosting company in West Africa and is based in Accra, Ghana.
eTranzact card holders in Ghana can already use their cards in a wide variety of ways. The websites that accept eTranzact cards over the Internet are increasing regularly. Notable among these are airlines and some financial institutions operating in Ghana.
A useful addition to this list is Web4Africa Ltd. Web4Africa offers professional web services to clients worldwide. These include domain name registration, website design, web applications development, and web hosting.
Web4Africa’s website at www.web4africa.net already makes use of a sophisticated shopping cart for buyers to be able to order for their domain and web hosting over the Internet, and pay online via various international payment systems. Adding eTranzact to the list of supported payment systems empowers residents of Ghana to order and pay online for web services and in the Ghana Cedis currency.
An added convenience is that most of the web services ordered on www.web4africa.net and paid for online, are processed instantly. Thus, buyers do not have to go through the inconvenience of a bank deposit.
Web4Africa is Ghana’s leading web hosting company, hosting more websites than all the other competition combined, and a leading player in West Africa.
Many prospective web hosting customers especially in countries like Nigeria start the search for a web hosting company from a search engine. It is not uncommon for such people to search for “cheap web hosting”, “cheapest web hosting in nigeria”, “cheap web hosting company” etc. While it is not wrong to want to save some money where possible, the question one needs to reflect on is, “is cheap web hosting always the better choice?”
Web hosting company like other serious businesses always have various financial obligations. Meeting these obligations and still making enough money to declare a profit is a constant balancing act. As such, a web hosting service needs to be priced just right. A serious web hosting company would not under-price for a prolonged period. Whilst occasional promotional offers are reasonable, a prolonged under-pricing can jeopardize the future of the web hosting company.
Then there are micro web hosting firms managed single-handedly by individuals with the motive of shacking-up the web hosting industry. These individuals usually price very low for two reasons:
So what price is right for web hosting?
Before deciding to choose a web host, it helps to short-list at least 5 different web hosting firms and then compare all the important factors. Pricing, really, should not be the only determining factor. Closely comparing the full features they offer relative to their respective pricing should be a pointer towards what price is right.
In web hosting, you get what you pay for, most of the times. Cheap web hosting is often times mediocre web hosting. Since cheap web hosting firms under-price their service, they lack the financial muscle to invest in world-class service delivery. The under-paying web hosting customers end-up suffering for it all.
Before you choose your next web host hosting company, remember that cheap is not always best.
Oluniyi D. Ajao of Web4Africa would be speaking on 28th May 2010 at Etranzact’s Business Incubator programme on “eCommerce: Website Development & Data management”.
BUSINESS INCUBATION PROGRAM
Theme/Topic : The Business of eCommerce
Date : 28th May 2010 (10:00am – 3:00pm)
Venue : Busy Internet
Introduction to the programme
The eTranzact Business Incubation Program was developed as an avenue to encourage small to medium enterprises to adapt the use of technology to expand their business operations and/or create additional revenue streams for themselves.
This quarter, the Business Incubation Program will focus on ecommerce and the advantages of an online presence and how these can be used by individuals and SME’s in Ghana to build
This topic was picked based on the identified need for information and knowledge we have encountered in our industry. eTranzact is an electronic payment solutions platform that provides individuals, businesses and financial institutions with means to pay and/or receive money using their mobile phones, the internet, POS terminals, and at bank outlets. We provide the technological interface that automates all payment processes, and facilitates the movement of funds electronically from the payer to the payee.
We have already signed on a number of entrepreneurs onto the eTranzact platform who use our API to receive payments on their websites from customers. However, there is a noticeable lack of knowledge on the proper management, development and marketing of an ecommerce website and also the financial know-how to sustain such an enterprise. This incubation program aims to considerably reduce this knowledge gap, and to further spread the use of ecommerce in Ghana.
